Configuration and monitoring service hampered in UK and US
4 februari, 2012
Last night our hosting provider has moved its data center. It appears that the configuration and monitoring service of devices.streamit.eu (formerly known as ChannelService) are not fully available in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Devices that area configured, will not face issues. The only consequence is that new settings are not always processed by a device and that monitoring logging during this period is intertuped.
This issue is being addressed and it appears that this has no consequences for the availability of the configuration and monitoring service in the rest of the world.
SAS220 and customizable check box
December 8, 2011
The device portal has been extended with the following possiblities:
- SAS220 devices can now be registered and configured.
- User-customizable checkboxes have been added to radio devices.
- A list of radio devices (XML-format) can be retrieved through a HTTP call. Uses basic authentication.
Device and station forms improved
August 15, 2011
The forms for the creation and editing of devices and stations have been improved. Furthermore it is now possible (again) to change the logo of a station. The header remains visible when searching in the listing of stations.
Many improvements rolled out
July 8, 2011
Again many improvements have been implemented for ChannelService, Streamit's device management portal. Below is a summary of the most important changes and fixes:
- Users can now edit their own account directly. They can, among other things, change their username or choose a new password by themselves.
- Users can now select a preferred language, so that the portal always opens and sends emails in this language.
- Terms of use have been adapted and simplified, users who are registered by a reseller need to accept the terms of use by themselves. Users now indemnify the reseller.
- Task scheduling has improved. Time zone problems in the creation of tasks are now in the past and the entry of date and time is better supported and validated. The layout of the page has been improved also.
- Monitoring information is now shown with time stamps corresponding to the time zone of the device.
- When a station has multiple streams, the the best-matching stream is selected for a device as a preset.
Device monitoring and management extended
March 2, 2011
Over the course of the past months, the monitoring and editing of devices on ChannelService has been greatly improved, along with several bug fixes. The following is a high-level summary of what has changed:
Monitoring
- Encoders (SAS250) now also have monitoring
- SIR120PRO and SIR150 have additional data in a Misc field in the logging
- David monitoring data is received and stored (but not yet presented through the user interface)
- The backend responsible for receiving and handling the logging data has been completely rewritten
- Availability monitors around the world check 24/7 whether the portal and the monitoring backend are up and Streamit is alerted if they are not
Device management
- Device filtering has been revised so that more powerful selections can be made quickly
- Selection of multiple devices for joint simultaneous editing has been revised and is more robust
- The use of station groups has been revised (which type of stations can be added to what type of station group; explained in the user interface) and the user interface improved.
- Proxy URL can now be set for SIR devices 100, 120, 120PRO and 150.
- Pagination across the portal has been revised for proper and improved working
- Devices have become the first/default entry in the portal as this is the most used function
Encoders on ChannelService and other new features
July, 12th 2010
Again several new features have been added to the ChannelService, including many improvements in the operation of the portal.
Most notably the ChannelService portal now supports Streamit's encoders, the SAS200 and the SAS250. Each targeted at their specific markets, they deliver outstanding performance in Commercial Audio applications, Churches, and Studio Transmitter Links.
Two new features have been added for the configuration of Streamit SIR radio's:
- The task scheduler, that executes tasks on the SIR radio at planned dates and times, can now be enabled and disabled via the ChannelService portal
- A new task has been added to the list of tasks that the SIR can perform: 'Erase playlist'. This will erase playlists from the card, while leaving the content on the card untouched.
Last but not least: A sister portal has been launched for ChannelService: video.streamit.eu. Go and see for yourself!
New powerful features on ChannelService
January, 4th 2010
In the past months, a lot of work has been done on ChannelService. Many changes have taken place 'under the hood' or are less visible, but two new features deserve special mention: Monitoring and Scheduling.
Monitoring enables you to see in ChannelService what the status is of your SIR device(s). Depending on your settings, the device sends information about its status every so many minutes. In one overview, you can see the color coded status of all your SIR devices (you can set the color codes yourself). Digging in a little deeper, you can see the detailed status of your device: power, play status, card presence, audio source, playlist status, and software version. Special messages are also sent, for example when the device starts to update its playlist. Now you can quickly know from a distance what the status is of your SIR device(s), a reassuring thought.
Scheduling allows you to define tasks that your SIR needs to perform. You can set the date and time at which the task must be done. There is even an option to repeat a task daily. Now you can easily let your device check for new settings every dayn (or night), update the playlists, etc.
Monitoring and scheduling are available for the SIR100, SIR120, SIR120PRO, and SIR150. To use monitoring and scheduling on ChannelService, you need a license. This license is included for the SIR120PRO. Please send a mail to info@streamit.eu to inquire about a license for the SIR100, the SIR120, or the SIR150.
